Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Development (DoD), the Grant Writer & Coordinator (GC) is responsible for grant research, writing, and management of reporting and deliverables. The GC will also cultivate and foster relationships with funders and funding organizations locally, regionally and nationally to further understand and support Cape Fear Habitat’s mission and programs. This role also coordinates with appropriate Staff around grant requirements and needs to ensure meeting Grantor and CFHFH Expectations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Draft and complete grant applications according to application requirements
- Work closely with staff to understand the needs of various departments and their capacity to fulfill grant requirements
- Ensure grants are submitted on time and within application parameters
- Complete all documents, forms and reports required by each grant
- Enter grant information, deliverables and deadlines into Raiser’s Edge and the NewOrg database
- Interview homeowners and write compelling stories, as needed
- Ability to communicate homeowner narratives in a respectful manner
- Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of grant funded programs and projects; meet regularly with staff to review grant deliverables and ensure deadlines are being met
- Network and meet with new and existing grant funders to foster relationships and deepen understanding of priorities and needs
- Research and develop resources for information on grant opportunities
- Provide support for other fundraising programs, events and projects, as requested
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
Position Requirements:
- Commitment to the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity’s mission and the desire to support it
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience; minimum three years of progressively responsible experience
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Incredible organizational skills
- Passion for the Habitat mission and ability to work collaboratively to help achieve it
- Ability to craft meaningful narratives that powerfully demonstrate the need for affordable housing and the impact Cape Fear Habitat is making in the community
- As a team player, collaborate among the development team, throughout the organization and with external groups
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines and adapt to changing schedules and needs of funders and staff
- Experience with Microsoft Office is required.
- Knowledge of customer relationship management software. Knowledge of NewOrg and Blackbaud products is a plus.
- Create projected timelines and calendars for Grant proposals, income expectations and completing reporting requirements due to Grantors
- Meet all deadlines agreed upon with the DoD
- Ability to perform physical duties: stand, walk, sit, lift up to 20 pounds
- Satisfactory results on sex offender/criminal background screen and pre-employment drug screen
