Cape Fear Habitat has an opening for a team member to manage its donor database and plan and implement its fundraising. Attention to detail, organizational skills, curiosity, a drive for accuracy and ability to work well within a team are some of the qualities that will make you a good fit for this job.

Responsibilities:
The Database and Events Coordinator (DEC) manages the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge donor database, gift processing and acknowledgment and also plans and manages the internal details to support Cape Fear Habitat fundraising events. 

Database Management
  • Oversee donor gift processing and stewardship, including entering and coding all donations (mail, web, event, in-kind, vehicle, etc.) and generating thank you letters.
  • Ensure that donors are acknowledged through timely and accurate thank you letters. 
  • Utilizing Raiser’s Edge, create online donation and event registration forms, establish peer-to-peer giving platforms and develop other online fundraising and event management tools.
  • Prepare reports on a regular schedule for development department reporting and analysis. 
  • Manage information contained in the donor database. Document best practices and enforce rules for data entry; educate and train staff. Perform periodic maintenance to ensure that data is up-do-date and lacking duplicate records.
  • Interface with the finance department to perform monthly and annual reconciliations. Assist finance with documentation needed for annual audit.
  • Coordinate ongoing data exchange and communication with Habitat for Humanity International.
  • Document and update position processes on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and ethical handling of donor information.
     
Event Coordination and Logistics 
In collaboration with the Development Coordinator,
  • Create the plans for and implement the internal structures and processes needed for fundraising events, including the Golden Hammer Breakfast, Women Build, CEO Build and Turkey Trot. Also provide assistance for the UpScale ReSale event.
  • Create an annual event schedule with detailed timelines and plans for each event
  • Oversee and organize events from beginning stages to event completion and follow up
The Database and Events Coordinator will also,
  • Provide sponsor recognition and support stewardship of sponsor relationships
  • Work in close coordination with the Volunteer Program Manager to recruit and schedule event volunteers
  • Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager to promote all events, recruit participants and maximize media coverage for the event and its sponsors
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of other Habitat events including dedications, tours, receptions, tabling activities, fundraising events, etc.
  • Ensure clear communication and coordination with staff across the organization.

Experience and Knowledge Requirements
  • Commitment to the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity mission
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience, with two to three years in a progressively responsible role
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with advanced spreadsheet and computing skills; two or more years of database management experience preferred
  • Strong team player 
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising principles and practices
  • Ability to understand and resolve technical problems independently
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities independently
  • Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening test
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Physical Demand Requirements
  • Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, printers and copiers
  • Capability to perform physical duties such as standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
